The global shortage of electronic components is currently affecting the electronics industry on all fronts, including Movesense. Some chip manufacturers are unable to meet the global demand, leading to the situation that certain components are available through distributors only.
The unfortunate consequence of the crisis is a rapid increase in purchase prices of individual components, and lead times extending in some cases from weeks to more than a year. To mitigate the situation and to ensure the best possible service to our customers, we are purchasing some long lead time components for Movesense sensors from the spot market.
Due to the spot purchases, Movesense production costs have risen clearly in the past few months. As a result, we have to include the increased costs in Movesense sales prices. The new pricing is effective immediately on movesense.com/shop and valid until further notice. We are contacting the contracted customers separately.
We believe we will be able to re-adjust the prices as component availability improves, but at the moment it is impossible to predict exactly when the situation will return to normal.
