Holiday season is on! This year we have two summer trainees to help us. First, we will introduce you to Enni Nurmi.
Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Enni. I started as a summer trainee in the beginning of May. I’m a master student at Aalto University majoring in biosensing and bioelectronics. In addition, I belong to the Finnish National Race Walking Team. Last year I debuted at the European Championships and World Championships. My dream is to discover my limits in race walking and succeed in the Olympics.
How did you end up working at Movesense?
I was working at Suunto quality team two years ago. During the time I got to know our product manager Emmi Rautaheimo and CEO Jussi Kaasinen. This spring I sent a message to Emmi and asked if they needed help during the summer. They found me a suitable job and I am really grateful for this opportunity that I have been given.
What are your main tasks at Movesense?
At Movesense, I belong to our software team. I’m developing new algorithms for our sensor. When I have time, I’m also helping our marketing team with social media posts and testing our sensors.
What have you learnt so far?
I have managed to learn a lot of new skills. Before I was more or less unaware of the algorithm development process and the C++ coding language. Now I am able perform basic and even advanced tasks.
What has been best at Movesense so far?
All the people! And of course, that I can work with important topics that combine my studies and interests. I really see that wearables can solve our problems in the future which motivates me. I have a strong sport background, but Movesense has given me a new perspective on how wearables can be used in medical technology. As has always been said, only healthy athletes can succeed, which reinforces the importance of health.
